The airline business is one of the most competitive of all industries. If one airline lowers its fares the others quickly follow suit. If a particular flyer offers a special promotion they all do something to equalize the value of their flights in the eyes of the traveler. Some go out on a limb and promise on-time performance the aspect of their business over which they have the least control. Bad weather, equipment failures and other carriers congesting the air lanes make taking off and landing on schedule a difficult and risky claim to live up to.
Individuals are much more in control of their time. A person also may be late due to unavoidable circumstances -- but they only occur once in a while -- certainly not all of the time. Yet there are those who just never seem to leave or arrive on time. Some go so far as to intentionally arrive at an hour that they mysteriously have calculated as "fashionably late." Tardiness is not a sign of being "sharp" or "cool". It is a sign of a person who is inconsiderate to the value of another's precious moments.
When you are somehow giving in to delay and going at a pace that will make you late -- stop. It is so easy to consider that your appointment involves someone else's time as well as your own. You can play with yours but don't waste theirs.

DID YOU KNOW THAT
One should not fold a taleet or tefillin while Kaddish is being recited. One instead should concentrate on the Kaddish intently and not involve oneself in even the most menial of activities. One should recite blessings in the same manner. Shulhan Arukh O'H Siman 26
