DO IT NOW!!

You are only human, and sometimes you just can’t take it. Your blood starts to boil. Good sense gets pushed to the back of the cranium, and anger takes over. At that point, it is possible to do something stupid and act in a manner you will soon regret.

But what can be done when you just can’t bear it anymore?

Temper control is a lifelong task. Maimonides says that in all character traits we should strive to develop a middle course—except for the trait of conceit and the trait of anger. Those two traits are so bad that we should work on eliminating them completely from our personalities.

But what is a person to do? After all, we are only human!

A surprisingly effective approach is to write down your grievances. Your feelings will be vented and your businesslike approach to frustration will help put things into perspective. Write a private “letter to the complaint department” outlining what, exactly, is making you so unhappy, and watch the temper index drop.

Whenever you are about to “lose it,” take out a pad and pencil and start writing. It only takes a few minutes to jot down your thoughts and feelings, but it will save you hours—or even years—of regret.

Try it.

DID YOU KNOW THAT
Since the Three Weeks is a time of trouble we must avoid as much as possible anything that is potentially dangerous. Included in this we are cautioned to avoid hitting children  during this time period.
According to Sephardic custom there is no prohibition regarding haircuts or shaving during the Three weeks except for the "Shavua Shechal bo" - the week in which Tisha B'Ab falls ( this year the week of Tisha B'Ab begins Saturday night July 21st until after the fast on July 24th).

CONSIDER THIS FOR A MINUTE
A person’s words have far-reaching effects, and a person’s actions extend even further. The ripples caused  by a good deed can affect people who live many years after the deed is done.

The Gemara reveals that in the merit of a statement of humility made by Avraham Avinu, the Jewish people were given two commandments. Avraham said: “For I am but dust and ashes,” and his children were rewarded with the mitzvah of the ashes of the Red Heifer and with the mitzvah of the dust of the Sotah woman.

The Red Heifer was slaughtered and burned and its ashes were mixed with water to purify those who were spiritually impure. The Cohen preparing the concoction took dust from beneath a loose tile in the Temple floor. This dust was blended into a mixture that was given to a suspected wife to drink. This process brought shalom bayit—domestic tranquility—back into the home by verifying the woman’s faithfulness to her spouse, and kept the reputations of her offspring clear of any scandal. We merited this gift because of the humility expressed by our Patriarch, Avraham. (Sotah 17a)
